In preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebration, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called upon Muslims to diligently search for the new moon of Shawwal 1445AH.
The designated day for moon sighting is Monday, April 8, 2024.
According to a statement issued by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs at the Sultanate Council of Sokoto, Monday marks the 29th day of Ramadan at 1445 AH, signifying the critical moment to spot the crescent moon heralding the end of the holy month.
The public has been encouraged to actively participate in the sighting process and report any moon sightings to specific contact numbers.
These reports will be communicated directly to the Sultan for validation.
