The Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) of Ogun State 1 Command orchestrated a benevolent act, distributing essential food items to widows, orphans, and the less privileged in the Idiroko area of Ogun State.
Led by the dynamic Chairperson of COWA, Grace Ogunnesan, the association embarked on this noble initiative to mark the occasion of International Women’s Day, recognizing and celebrating not only its members but also women in the wider community.
During the distribution event held on Saturday in Idiroko, Ogun State, Chairperson Grace Ogunnesan underscored the significance of standing in solidarity with the vulnerable segments of society.
She emphasized that the association’s outreach aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by those in need, particularly amidst the prevailing economic challenges.
The generosity of COWA manifested in the provision of staple food items such as rice, noodles, and beverages, symbolizing sustenance and care for the recipients.
The distribution commenced at the command’s headquarters in Idiroko, where COWA members met with Customs Area Controller, Ahmadu Shuaibu, and his management team.
Expressing gratitude for the command’s support in securing the items, Chairperson Grace Ogunnesan acknowledged the pivotal role played by Customs officers in enabling the charitable endeavor.
In response, Mr. Shuaibu commended the altruistic efforts of COWA, recognizing the timely nature of their gesture amidst prevailing economic challenges.
Emphasizing the importance of continuity in such acts of kindness, Mr. Shuaibu urged the association to persist in their charitable endeavors, highlighting the enduring impact it has on the lives of beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries of the palliative, comprising widows, orphans, and the less privileged, expressed profound appreciation to the association for extending a helping hand during their time of need. Among them were the wives of late officers who had tragically lost their lives in active service, underscoring the poignant significance of COWA’s compassionate outreach.
