In a bid to alleviate the economic strains faced by its residents, the Kwara State Government has initiated the distribution of an additional 20,000 bags of 10kg rice palliatives, valued at N2 billion. Coordinated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, this distribution is facilitated through Community–Based Organizations (CBOs), Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating throughout the state.
In this new phase, the government has strategically engaged CBOs and NGOs to ensure the targeted and efficient distribution of rice palliatives to the most deserving individuals across various communities. Dr Olohungbebe emphasized the importance of utilizing established community networks to reach those in need.
Parallel efforts are also underway to extend support to other sectors of society, leveraging the influence of clerics, community leaders, and other stakeholders spread across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kwara. This multi-tiered approach aims to comprehensively address the diverse needs of the state’s populace.
Prior to this, the government had distributed 10,000 bags of 10kg rice palliatives to the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress (TUC). These organizations were entrusted with the responsibility of further distributing the relief packages to their members.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, a staunch advocate for the well-being of his constituents, reiterated his commitment to supporting the people amidst global economic challenges, particularly the impact of inflation on purchasing power. The governor’s consistent efforts in providing relief underscore the state’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
