In a daring and well-executed operation, the Anambra State Joint Security Force, under the directive of Commissioner of Police Aderemi Adeoye, successfully dismantled an insurgents’ camp in Achalla, the headquarters of Awka North Local Government Area. The surprise attack on Monday, 19th February 2024, left the criminals fleeing with gunshot wounds, marking a significant victory for law enforcement.
The insurgents, who had previously disrupted activities at Achalla Market by imposing a sit-at-home order on traders, drew the attention of the State Police Command. Prompt action was taken to quell the unrest and restore normalcy to the region.
During the operation, five stolen exotic vehicles were recovered, providing a sigh of relief to their rightful owners. The security forces also seized a cache of weapons, including over 300 rounds of Machine Gun Ammunition and 34 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition for the AK-47 rifle.
All operatives involved in the mission, representing various security services, have safely returned to their bases, showcasing the efficiency and coordination of the joint effort.
Commissioner of Police Aderemi Adeoye has called on the owners of the recovered vehicles to come forward with proof of ownership for retrieval. Simultaneously, a manhunt has been launched to track down the fleeing insurgents, with an extension of the search to hospitals and clinics to ensure their apprehension and subsequent justice.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the success of the operation and emphasized the commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
As the community breathes a sigh of relief, the joint security forces remain vigilant, prepared to face any emerging threats to the safety and well-being of the citizens.
