The Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB) initiated a sweeping operation to address non-compliance with the ethical standards of Traditional Medicine Practice within the state.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Adams Aisha, the Inspectorate Team of the Board orchestrated a swift and efficient response, enlisting the support of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps to ensure the protection of the well-being of Lagosians.
During the operation, the team identified and subsequently sealed two Traditional Birth Attendant facilities located at No. 58, Willoughby Street, Ebute-Metta, and 12, Ogunnaike Street, Agege, Lagos State.
These facilities were found to be in violation of the established code of conduct for traditional medicine practice.
Mrs Adams, speaking during the operation, emphasized the Board’s commitment to shielding the public from unscrupulous traditional medicine practitioners. She stated that the continuous clampdown and ongoing initiatives are geared towards promoting the responsible use of traditional medicine for the overall benefit of the populace.
“The Board’s operation is rooted in its commitment to create a structured Traditional Medicine practice that is respected, standardized, documented, modernized, and protected,” Mrs Adams declared.
In a call to action, the board urged both traditional medicine practitioners and the public to collaborate in upholding the highest standards. Emphasizing the need for responsible practices, Adams underscored the importance of prioritizing the well-being of patients seeking treatments.
This crackdown signals the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board’s unwavering dedication to establishing a regulated and respected framework for traditional medicine, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community it serves.
