Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed his unwavering commitment to surpassing the accomplishments of his first term, aiming to achieve twice as much in his second term.
The governor made these remarks during the Lagos West senatorial district town hall meeting held in Ikeja on Thursday.
Highlighting the theme of his second term as a “season of doubling,” Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the intention to accelerate the pace of development strides. He outlined the administration’s commitment to delivering twice the number of projects and programmes achieved in the initial term, all guided by the T.H.E.M.E.S+ development agenda.
During the meeting, the governor provided insight into the significant infrastructure developments within the Lagos West senatorial district.
He revealed that over 30 ongoing road projects were in progress at various stages of completion. Notable completed projects over the past four years include the Pen-Cinema Bridge, Ikeja Flyover, and more than 42 roads spanning Alimosho, Ifako, Agege, Ikeja, Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Badagry, totaling over 70km of new roads and two kilometers of bridges.
Governor Sanwo-Olu underscored the district’s crucial role in intracity railway development, hosting major passenger hubs for both the Blue Line and Red Line trains.
He also provided an update on the advanced stage of the new general hospital being constructed in the Ojo axis, emphasizing its potential to enhance healthcare access in the district upon completion.
In a bid to fortify security measures, the governor announced plans to release an additional 300 patrol vehicles and work gadgets, enhancing the surveillance capabilities and responsiveness of security agencies to emerging threats.
Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded his address by urging residents to abide by the law and support government initiatives aimed at maintaining law and order.
He assured the public that laws would be fair and just for all, underscoring the government’s commitment to creating a secure and conducive environment for all citizens.
