Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has appointed Olaide Salawu as the deputy rector of the Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The announcement was made by the institution’s registrar, Modupe Fawale, in a statement released on Thursday in Ibadan.
Mrs Salawu’s elevation to the position of deputy rector follows her victory in the deputy rectorship election held on Oct. 25, with subsequent ratification by the Board of Studies.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, acting on behalf of Governor Makinde, approved the appointment through a letter dated Jan. 10.
The tenure for this significant role is set at two years, according to Fawale.
The Deputy Rector will report directly to the Rector, overseeing the day-to-day administration of the institution and handling duties assigned by the Rector.
Effective from Nov. 1, the appointment is retrospective and spans until Oct. 31, 2025. The vacancy for the Deputy Rector position arose when Olubunmi Olubamiwa completed her two-term tenure.

Her contributions extended beyond academics, as she served as the Chairman of the Sports Advisory Committee of the institution from 2017 to 2021.
Born over 50 years ago, Mrs Olaide Salawu is married to Mr Isiaka Salawu, a retired Chief Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
