In a continued effort to uplift the marginalized and extend support during challenging times, the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, presented cheques to 103 indigent residents on Wednesday at Alausa.
The financial assistance programme aims to address the pressing needs of vulnerable Lagosians, ranging from healthcare and education to housing and small business ventures.
Engr Abiola Kosegbe, the Permanent Secretary representing Tajudeen Afolabi, the Special Adviser, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, underscored the governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of indigent Lagosians.
Kosegbe emphasized that the funds disbursed through this initiative will provide a crucial lifeline for recipients, enabling them to meet their basic requirements and pursue opportunities for personal and economic growth.
Highlighting the overwhelming demand for financial assistance, Kosegbe explained the meticulous process employed to identify deserving individuals who meet the criteria of the programme.
She stressed that priority is given to those facing health challenges, ensuring swift access to the necessary treatments.
Moreover, Kosegbe urged all beneficiaries to register on the Lagos State Health Management Scheme (LASHMA), with plans underway to pre-register them for seamless access to quality healthcare. The Permanent Secretary also encouraged citizens to engage with the government through the CitizensGate 2.0 (CGV2.0) Platform, a tool designed to facilitate inquiries, lodge complaints, and provide suggestions or commendations.
The event, graced by the presence of Saheed Balogun, the newly appointed Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, along with several directors from the Office, marks a significant step toward inclusive governance in Lagos.
The CitizensGate 2.0 platform, as explained by Kosegbe, serves as a gateway to ensure governance reaches every doorstep in the pursuit of political and social benefits for all Lagosians.
