In a targeted crackdown on crime hotspots, the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) made a significant breakthrough, arresting 43 individuals and seizing a semi-automatic pistol in separate operations on Tuesday night.
The raid, concentrated in areas notorious for illicit activities such as Anthony, Bolade Oshodi, and Oshodi Terminus, was prompted by credible intelligence regarding the activities of criminal elements in these neighborhoods.
The RRS, under the leadership of Commander CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, executed a precise operation resulting in the recovery of a semi-automatic pistol in Opebi, Ikeja.
This successful operation followed the deployment of an RRS team to verify tips provided by vigilant members of the public. In addition to the pistol, the team seized two 9mm caliber rounds and one expended ammunition during the operation.
Commander Egbeyemi personally oversaw the thorough screening of all individuals apprehended during the raids. After due diligence, 43 suspects were identified as having committed offenses warranting prosecution. They are set to face legal proceedings without delay.
The RRS operation underscores the agency’s commitment to tackling crime and maintaining public safety in Lagos State. The recovery of a dangerous firearm and the apprehension of multiple suspects highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in disrupting criminal networks operating within the region.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and continue collaborating with law enforcement to ensure the security of their communities.
