Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos have initiated an investigation into the actions of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for his purported involvement in the spraying of Naira notes.
The 31-year-old social media personality and internet sensation was summoned by the EFCC following a viral video depicting him flaunting bundles of fresh Naira notes at the premiere of the movie “Ajakaju,” produced by Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao. The event took place at the prestigious Film One Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos, on March 24, 2024.
Reports indicate that Bobrisky’s alleged misconduct extended beyond the aforementioned premiere, with claims suggesting similar actions occurred at various event centers and gatherings on different occasions.
Responding to the EFCC’s summons, Bobrisky presented himself for questioning at the Lagos Zonal Command of the commission on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024.
During the interrogation, he cooperated with investigators and provided his statement regarding the accusations leveled against him.
Upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation, authorities have hinted at the possibility of pressing charges against Bobrisky. He is expected to face legal proceedings in court in connection with the alleged offenses.
The EFCC’s pursuit of this matter underscores its commitment to upholding financial regulations and combating illicit financial activities within the Nigerian society. Stay tuned for further updates as the investigation progresses.
