A 19-year-old robbery suspect, identified as Akinjobi Wahab, was apprehended in the early hours of the morning on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The suspect, armed with a menacing machete, was caught red-handed while attempting to snatch a motorcycle from plainclothes officers patrolling the area.
The swift action by members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) save the officer.
The officers, blending seamlessly into their surroundings, were conducting routine patrols when they encountered the brazen robbery attempt.
Despite the suspect being in the company of four others who managed to evade capture, the timely intervention of law enforcement prevented the crime from escalating.
This successful operation comes in response to mounting concerns raised by residents regarding the surge in criminal activities, particularly during the early hours in the vicinity of Agidingbi, Ikeja.
Under the leadership of Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, measures have been implemented to enhance security and combat the menace of robbery in the area.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, the arrested suspect will undergo thorough investigation procedures before being arraigned in court.
