Ogun state police have arrested a father and his son in connection with the death of their neighbour’s wife.
According to the police spokesperson, Omotola Odutola, the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute over the usage of a ‘ponmo’ table belonging to the deceased, identified as Tope Owoade.
The conflict escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in Tope Owoade sustaining fatal injuries, ultimately leading to her demise.
Isiaka Owoade, the husband of the deceased, recounted how his wife had repeatedly warned the father and son duo against sitting on the table used for selling edible animal skin.
Tragically, on March 29, 2024, upon Isiaka’s return from a journey, he was informed by his wife about an assault that occurred the previous day, where the neighbors, Chizoke Obiadada and his son Micheal Obiadada, brutally attacked her, causing severe injuries.
Despite efforts to seek medical attention, Tope Owoade succumbed to her injuries on the way to a government hospital after being rejected by private facilities.
Following the husband’s report, the police swiftly apprehended the suspects, who are currently undergoing preliminary investigation pending transfer to the state criminal investigation department.
