In a stirring testament to the unwavering fortitude and patriotic fervour of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), lauded the gallant efforts and sacrifices of military personnel amidst the nation’s daunting security landscape.
Speaking at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Olukoyede offered commendations to members of the armed forces for their steadfast dedication to preserving peace and security across the nation.
The accolades came during a visit by students from the Departments of Intelligence, Security Science, and Cyber Security of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, who embarked on a study tour of the EFCC.
Addressing the visiting cadets, Olukoyede emphasized the paramount importance of courage and patriotism, virtues epitomized by the valiant men and women of the Nigerian military who confront myriad security challenges with unwavering resolve and selflessness.
“While our nation grapples with various threats to peace and security, I wish to commend our troops for their unwavering commitment, often at great personal risk,” remarked Olukoyede.
He urged the cadets to emulate the exemplary dedication of serving military officers and prioritize national interests above personal gain upon graduating from the NDA.
Highlighting the critical role of intelligence gathering in combating cyber insecurity and associated crimes, the EFCC’s Secretary, Mohammed Hammajoda, underscored the importance of continuous training and retraining for military personnel to effectively address evolving security threats.
Assuring the cadets of valuable insights gained during their visit, Hammajoda emphasized the EFCC’s proficiency in intelligence operations, a cornerstone in the fight against corruption and financial crimes.
Moreover, the EFCC’s Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Isha J. Abdullahi, stressed the imperative for the NDA to embrace advancements in technology, particularly in ICT, social media, and cyber security.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of ICT in shaping the future, Abdullahi urged cadets to acquaint themselves with digital trends and safeguard against cyber threats in an increasingly interconnected world.
The visit also served as a platform for imparting knowledge on the positive utilization of social media, intelligence analysis, cyber security, and combating cybercrime. Through lectures delivered by EFCC experts, including insights on the strategic use of social media, intelligence analysis, and cyber security protocols, the cadets gained invaluable perspectives on contemporary security challenges.
Aisha Muhammed, the Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation at the EFCC, reiterated the collective responsibility in the fight against corruption and cybercrimes, calling upon the cadets to champion integrity and national development upon their return to the NDA.
