In a resolute move to curb the persistent menace of noise pollution, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) executed a rigorous enforcement operation across strategic locations in Mushin and Surulere areas earlier this week.
The operation aimed to address not only the issue of noise pollution but also various environmental violations that have been plaguing these communities.
The decisive action taken by LASEPA was confirmed through an official statement by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahaba.
Despite numerous warnings and directives issued by the agency, several establishments, including a hotel, a bar, and a Catholic church, continued to disregard the environmental regulations set forth by LASEPA.
Wahaba expressed deep concern over the persistent non-compliance, stating, “As a result, these establishments have been closed to enforce compliance with environmental regulations.”
Among the sealed establishments were notable venues such as School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel & Suites, and St. Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lords Catholic Church.
LASEPA reiterated the paramount importance of strict adherence to environmental laws, underscoring its dedication to fostering a harmonious and sustainable environment for the residents of Lagos.
This enforcement action serves as a stark reminder to all establishments to prioritize environmental responsibility and contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
The closure of these establishments signals a significant step towards mitigating the adverse effects of noise pollution and upholding environmental standards in Mushin and Surulere.
