In a promising development for the ongoing battle against insecurity, Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has pledged his support to aid security forces in flushing out killer-herdsmen from the forests in the South-West.
The Military High Command, represented by spokesman Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, expressed gratitude for Igboho’s commitment, highlighting that collective efforts are essential in combating the rising threat of insecurity. Addressing recent achievements, Buba disclosed that in February 2024, the military neutralized 974 terrorists, apprehended 621 individuals linked to terror activities, and successfully rescued 466 kidnapped hostages. The spokesperson reiterated the armed forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism and ensure the security of the nation.
Buba outlined the strategic approach taken by the military, emphasizing synchronized strikes involving both ground and air forces on terrorist enclaves. These operations resulted in a significant reduction in terrorist numbers, affirming the positive impact of the military’s proactive measures.
He concluded by underscoring the armed forces’ commitment to national security, citing substantial successes achieved across all six geo-political zones in February.
As the nation grapples with persistent security challenges, the collaborative efforts of activists like Sunday Igboho alongside the military’s decisive actions signal a collective resolve to create a safer environment for all citizens.
