Yorùbá nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, has asserted that it was not the federal government but a divine amnesty that facilitated his return home for his mother’s burial.
The revelation unfolded during the burial ceremony held in Ibadan on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
Sunday Igboho, a prominent human rights activist, disclosed that traditional rulers had collectively pledged to grant him amnesty if the federal government failed to do so.
Addressing doubts about his return, he stated, “I leveraged divine amnesty and summoned courage to come home for the event. I have come home to pay my mum the last respect.”

Unfazed by the alleged threat from the Department of State Security (DSS) officers, Igboho declared, “I don’t care because I have not done anything wrong. I didn’t take the amnesty to Kano or Kaduna. I brought it to Yorùbá land.”
During his address to the gathering, he reassured them of his commitment to the Yorùbá cause, stating, “Nigeria is in the hands of the Yorùbá.”
Igboho urged continued support for traditional rulers, emphasizing their role in the Yorùbá agitation. “Let’s continue to honor our traditional rulers for their support for our agitation. We have the right to say no to this existing unity. It is not working,” he asserted.
