The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has strongly condemned the unethical practice of officers dropping his name for corrupt practices and extortion within the Nigeria Police Force.
In an effort to maintain the highest standards of integrity, the IGP issued a stern warning against such activities, emphasizing the severe consequences awaiting any officer found guilty.
Expressing deep concern, the IGP stressed that leveraging his name for fraudulent activities tarnishes not only his personal reputation but also undermines the credibility of the entire Police Force, eroding public trust.
He urged officers to uphold transparency and professionalism, emphasizing that the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force is at stake.
The Inspector General made it clear that officers engaging in such malpractices will face severe disciplinary measures. He urged the public to report any attempts to exploit his name, particularly in investigations, and highlighted the crucial role citizens play in collaboration with the Police Force to eliminate corruption.
IGP Kayode Egbetokun reassured the public of the Force’s commitment to rooting out misconduct and ensuring accountability at all levels. He encouraged Nigerians to promptly report incidents of extortion or fraudulent activity, providing detailed information to facilitate thorough investigations leading to severe sanctions for erring officers.
