In a devastating incident that shook the broadcasting community, Deborah Ohamara, a presenter at Nigeria Info 95.1 FM, met an untimely demise in a car crash along the bustling airport road in Abuja.
The tragic incident unfolded on a Saturday morning when Ohamara’s vehicle collided with a trailer and another car, leading to her fatal injuries.
According to an anonymous colleague who spoke with TheCable, she was reportedly pushed into the trailer, resulting in a crushing impact. Despite immediate transportation to a nearby hospital, Ohamara tragically did not survive.
Contrary to some circulating online reports, her colleague clarified that there was a separate accident on Monday along the same airport road that caused significant traffic, but it was unrelated to Ohamara’s fatal crash.
Setting the record straight, the anonymous colleague stated, “Most of the reports online are not correct. Her accident happened on a Saturday morning. She was in a coma and died yesterday around 3 pm.”
Nigeria Info 95.1 FM officially confirmed Ohamara’s passing on Monday through a somber Facebook post.
The post expressed deep sorrow, saying, “With a heavy heart, but with total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing of our dear colleague, sister, and friend, Deborah Ohamara (Debbie), a brilliant and loved broadcaster with Nigeria Info Abuja.”
In honour of the late journalist, the radio station has opened an online condolence register, inviting listeners and well-wishers to pay their respects and share memories of the departed presenter.
The sudden loss of Deborah Ohamara has cast a pall over the broadcasting community, leaving colleagues and fans mourning the departure of a talented and cherished member of the media family.
