The eight-day prayer service for the late former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, was held on Wednesday January 3, 2024, in Owo.
The ceremony took place at the residence of the departed governor in his hometown of Owo, drawing together his family, associates, political adherents, and the grief-stricken populace of Owo.
Representing the Akeredolu family, Toyin Akeredolu, the younger sister of the late governor, graced the event alongside dignitaries including Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State; Mr. Dare Aragbiaye, former Special Adviser to the late Governor on Special Duties and Union Matters.
Others were Engr. Raimi Aminu, former Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing; and Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi and Hon. Morenike Witherspoon, Members of the State House of Assembly representing Owo constituencies one and two, respectively.
Chairpersons and vice-chairpersons from local government and local council development areas in Owo and its environs also gathered to pay their respects.
The prayer service, led by Rev. Canon S.B Oladimeji, centered on offering supplications for the bereaved family, loyal supporters of the late Akeredolu, as well as the well-being of the state and Owo town.
The Naija News.org had earlier reported that the late former governor died in Germany on December 27, 2023.
