The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has suspended its chairman, Fatai Adams, following accusations of engaging in activities contrary to the party’s interests.
In a unanimous decision, nine members of the State Working Committee, including key figures such as the deputy state chairman, Tola Alabere, and state secretary, Oluseye Olujimi, signed the suspension letter.
The committee alleges that Adams has been involved in anti-party activities that could tarnish the reputation of the PDP.
The suspension, authorized under Section 58(1b. c, f. h. and i) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017, emphasizes the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and integrity.
Adams is urged to appear before the State Disciplinary Committee within the next week for further investigation.
The statement issued by the committee asserts, “The party wishes to state emphatically that it will deal decisively with any incursion by the ruling party, the APC, into its ranks.” The suspension comes amidst heightened political tensions, highlighting the PDP’s determination to address internal issues promptly.
