In a bid to foster practical skills and instill a sense of responsibility in their students, the management of The Ladder Montessori Schools, Koya Estate Igboolomu, in Ikorodu Lagos, has called upon parents to actively involve their children in domestic chores from an early age.
During a laundry activity organised for nursery pupils, Mrs. B, the Headmistress of the school, emphasised the importance of practical education.
She highlighted that learning extends beyond classroom walls and stated, “Teaching is not limited to the four walls of the classroom. The pupils have been taught the theory in class. What they are doing here is connecting the classroom to a real-life situation.”
Mrs. B emphasised the energetic nature of children and encouraged parents not to neglect involving them in household chores.
She added, “Encourage your kids, keep a close watch as they assist you to avoid household accidents. The environment must be prepared.”
